Umbrella, Collectibles & Life Insurance Secrets

Certain types of protection don’t get talked about often, but they play a huge role when something major happens. Umbrella insurance, valuables coverage, and life insurance are the coverages that protect your home, income, assets, and long-term financial goals. These “secrets” help you understand what most people miss — and how to protect yourself before a loss occurs.

1. Umbrella Insurance: The Most Affordable Asset Protection

Umbrella policies provide an extra layer of liability protection on top of your auto and home insurance. They protect you from major accidents, lawsuits, and severe injuries where the underlying limits are not enough.

  • Protects your home, savings, and income.
  • Adds $1–$5 million in coverage for a small cost.
  • Applies to auto, home, rental, and recreation claims.
  • Critical for families with assets or higher income exposure.

2. Valuables & Collectibles Are Not Fully Covered Under Standard Policies

Most home and renters policies limit coverage for jewelry, collectibles, artwork, coins, firearms, and other valuables. Without scheduling these items, payouts can be far lower than expected.

  • Theft limits are often capped at $1,000–$2,500.
  • Mysterious disappearance is rarely covered.
  • Collections often need individual scheduling.
  • Appraisals help secure accurate coverage.

3. Life Insurance: The Foundation of Financial Protection

Life insurance isn’t only about replacing income — it protects your family’s financial future during their most vulnerable moments.

  • Covers income replacement.
  • Pays off mortgage or major debts.
  • Provides funding for education or family needs.
  • Ensures financial stability after unexpected loss.

4. Why These Coverages Matter

These protections are designed for low-frequency, high-severity events. You may never need them — but if you ever do, the financial impact is enormous.

5. How Jim Helps Clients Protect Their Assets

  • Reviews existing coverage to identify gaps.
  • Explains umbrella, valuables, and life-insurance options clearly.
  • Helps schedule items properly to avoid denied claims.
  • Ensures coverage matches lifestyle, income, and risk level.

Do I Need An Umbrella Insurance Policy?

Since 2001 I have been educating my clients on the need for a personal umbrella policy to protect their assets.  If there are young drivers in the household, it is even more critical because you never know when or how something will happen.

So what does an umbrella protect when we talk about assets?

Your home, cash, investments, current, and future earnings…

I can speak from personal experience to the power of an umbrella policy! One of my family members switched lanes and ended up causing a severe accident, resulting in a claim against my auto policy. As I write this article, I am thankful I had my umbrella policy and my assets were protected.

Some other examples I have seen

    1. The client rear-ended a doctor
    2. The client hit a pedestrian that stepped off the curb.

Getting A Divorce? How To Avoid A Critical Insurance Mistake

Hi there. I’m Jim Kreisman, and since 2001, I’ve been specializing in divorce insurance situations, having gone through a divorce myself in 2007.

I completely understand the financial and emotional impact on all parties. here are both excellent divorces and nasty divorces. My purpose today in this video is to talk to the person receiving spousal and child support.

The situation is this if the person that’s paying that support was to pass away, where would you be financial? I can only imagine what you want to do to protect yourself is work with your insurance agent and your attorney to make part of your decree a life insurance policy on the person paying the support. If that person passes away, you want to make sure you have enough life insurance uh coming to you that allows you and your family to live a comfortable life.

Now. As part of this life insurance policy, make sure you are the owner and beneficiary of that policy by being the policy owner. You are in complete control of that policy. Can you imagine if the person paying support took out the approach and they stopped paying the premium? You would never know about it by being the owner of the policy. If they stopped paying that premium if they’re required to, you’d know about it, and then you’ll have the option to continue to make those premium payments to keep the policy in force.

Why Is An Insurance Review So Important?

Hi, I’m jim Kreisman and welcome to Jim’s insurance university 101. In today’s lesson, we will talk about a farmer’s friendly review. This is you coming in, sitting with an insurance professional, and reviewing all your stuff. They should ask you a bunch of questions. They go over your entire insurance program and find out if anything else has changed there are any new risks. It’s like a fifty-thousand-mile tune-up on your car. It’s an excellent time to go over everything and make sure your insurance program is set up correctly so that if something does happen, you have the proper protection.

What To Expect In Your Insurance Review

    Farmers Friendly Review Insurance Agency

Kreisman Insurance Group is excited to talk with you today about our Insurance Review and why it is vital to your family’s insurance planning.  So what is insurance?  You can spend time doing an insurance review as often as you want or at least once a year.  It is a check-up meeting between you and the agent to verify your coverage and resolve your changing insurance needs.  There will probably be events in your life that impact your insurance needs, such as marital status, the birth of a kid, getting a house, auto or boat, and even setting up a new business.  We recognize that if you are like most individuals, your insurance isn’t exactly the first thing you think of when these life changes occur.

Well, that’s the reason we’re here.  It’s our responsibility to help you understand your options and provide guidance in select coverage that may help protect you and your family.  Insurance terminology might be confusing sometimes, so the insurance review is helpful.  During our time together, we’ll review the main points of your policies, identify any gaps or overlaps in coverage and verify the appropriate discounts are being applied to your account.

So how many times per year should you have an insurance review?  Well, we say that you should converse with us annually so we can sit and talk about what’s changed with you recently and ensure you have the right coverage.

So go ahead and email or call us at 480-637-5555 today so that we can schedule your free insurance review.
